How to Make Travel Memories Last: The Art of Photography & Videography A travel vlog is the perfect way to capture the essence of any travel or experience. It’s also incredibly fun to make. Capturing my family’s travels has brought me such joy and newfound creativity, so I challenge you to try it too! Here are my tips to help you curate, cherish, and revisit memories for years and travels to come: Utilize apps like iMovie and CapCut These are my favorite apps when it comes to creating and editing travel vlogs. And they’re FREE! Both iMovie and CapCut are user-friendly, allow for mobile editing, and pretty much perfect for our Apple ecosystems as well. iMovie comes pre-installed on Mac and iOS devices, so you don’t have to look for it on the App Store. CapCut does not come pre-installed, but it’s a simple search and download on the App Store. Everything on both of these apps can be edited from your phone, which means that you can upload clips into the apps directly from your phone, and not have to upload them to a computer first. And for my last tip, CapCut allows you to transform Live photos into videos which is a great feature (not one of iMovie’s) if you are short on video clips when creating your vlog. 2. Ensure that your Live Photo Feature is on (if you're an iPhone user) There's something pretty fascinating about the Live feature on our iPhones. It's like having a window to the past that allows us to revisit the laughs and living moments that were captured as stills. Plus, it helps us edit out inevitable blinks or photobombs. But what I've really come to love about Live photos is that they can be used to create Reels and travel vlogs (basically reiterating my previous point again here). I've snapped countless photos of my family and friends, beach sunsets, and even animals, and pretty much always forget to take videos to capture the moments. But thanks to Apple, I've been able to re-experience those moments and transform those stills into dynamic travel content, so I hope you'll do the same now! 3. Choose music for your vlog I absolutely LOVE music, so this is by far my favorite part when creating travel vlogs. When choosing your own music for your travel vlog, make sure to take into consideration the activities, settings, and environment you have captured. You always want the music to capture the vibe of your trip or experience. Use my travel vlog here as an example. My family went on a trip to New Mexico and spent time on a ranch, so I chose Morgan Wallen's country song called, "Whatcha Think Of Country Now." And now every time I hear that song come on, I'm immediately reminded of our travels and experiences in New Mexico because of the video I created to it. 4. Share your vlog Finally, whether it’s with your family, friends, neighbors, or followers, sharing your vlog can be a great way to connect with others and share your creativity. Further, you could connect with, inspire, and build a community that can provide you with support, encouragement, or other tips on your travels (kind of what I’m doing here 😊). You also never know who you could connect with by posting vlogs- old friends could reach out, distant family members may call you up for travel recommendations, or other creators and travel-related businesses could find you and open doors for your future travels! So NEVER be scared to share your positivity and creativity with others. I sincerely hope these tips have helped you learn some more about making travel memories last via travel vlogging. If you have any more questions, want to share your own travel vlog with me (please do btw), or wish for more content like this, contact me. Now get going! • The Ultimate Flight Guide | Lex Get Going

The Ultimate Flight Guide: Everything to Know About Airline Travel Whether you're a seasoned traveler or first-time flyer, understanding the ins and outs of flights can easily make your journey smoother and more enjoyable! In this guide here, I’ll cover just about everything you need to know for airline travel, from booking your ticket to arriving at your destination. Booking Your Flight - Timing is Key: Booking your flight in advance can often lead to better deals. Aim to book your flight at least a few weeks in advance, especially if you're traveling during peak seasons or holidays. Flexibility Pays Off: Being flexible with your travel dates and times can help you find cheaper flights. Consider flying on weekdays or during off-peak hours to save money. Comparison Shopping: Use flight comparison websites or apps to compare prices across different airlines. Don't forget to check the airline's official website as well, as they may offer exclusive deals or promotions. Understanding Flight Classes - Economy Class: The most affordable option, offering basic amenities and services. Premium Economy: A step up from economy class, providing more legroom and additional amenities. Business Class: Enhanced comfort and services, including priority boarding, better seating, and gourmet meals. F irst Class: The most luxurious option, with spacious seating, gourmet dining, and personalized service. Baggage Policies - Checked Baggage: There are many notorious airlines that allow you to check in baggage without paying additional fees. However, some airlines have certain weight limits for luggage, and limit the number of checked bags a person can check for free, so keep those in mind when packing for lengthier travels. Carry-On Baggage: Airlines typically have restrictions on the size and weight of carry-on luggage, so make sure to check your airline’s policy before backing. I always carry on my North Face backpack and have found that it’s the perfect size to stow away underneath the aircraft’s seats or overhead bins. Prohibited Items: Certain items such as sharp objects, liquids over a certain volume, and flammable materials are not allowed in either checked or carry-on baggage. Familiarize yourself with the airline's list of prohibited items to avoid any issues with security. Airport Procedures - Check-In: My family has always arrived at the airport an hour and a half before boarding time to allow for check-in, security screening, and flexibility for any potential delays. Some airlines offer online check-in, and airports are beginning to install kiosks and require self-check-in, so make sure to read about your specific airline’s requirements before travel day to minimize airport stress. Security Screening: Be prepared to remove your shoes, belts, and jackets, as well as liquids and electronics from your carry-on baggage, for security screening. I’ve recently learned that ice cubes in your water bottle do not count as liquid in some airport securities, so you can have your own ice cold water once you get through the security checkpoint! Boarding: Listen for announcements regarding boarding times and procedures. Most airlines board passengers in groups or zones, with priority given to certain passengers such as those with disabilities, families travelling with small children, or premium class ticket holders. In-Flight Experience - Entertainment: Many airlines offer in-flight entertainment systems with a selection of movies, TV shows, music, and games to keep you entertained during your flight. These movies, shows, games, etc., are installed on the back of each seat on most airplanes nowadays. If you are travelling on an older generation plane, I recommend downloading your airlines app onto a mobile device so you can access their movies, shows, games, etc., more easily than from a web browser. Another cool thing about airline apps is that they will show you your flight status, such as ETA, flight model, and map of the land you are flying over. Food and Beverages: Depending on the length of your flight and the airline, you may be offered complimentary beverages and/or meals. Some airlines also offer the option to purchase additional snacks and drinks. Comfort Tips: Bring a travel pillow, blanket, and earplugs or noise-canceling headphones to make your flight more comfortable, especially on long-haul flights. Most of the newer generations of planes have charging ports as well, which is very convenient and prevents any dead batteries on a 6+ hour long flight. Arrival - Baggage Claim: After clearing immigration and customs, proceed to the baggage claim area to retrieve your checked luggage. Make sure to double-check the baggage tags to ensure you're picking up the correct bags. Transportation: Arrange for transportation from the airport to your final destination in advance, whether it's a taxi, shuttle, or public transportation. Subscribe for Exclusive Updates Email Subscribe Thanks for subscribing! Navigating the world of flights does not have to be as daunting as it’s often made out to be. By understanding the booking process, flight classes, baggage policies, airport procedures, in-flight experience, and arrival procedures, you can ensure a smooth and stress-free journey from start to finish. Whether you're traveling for business or pleasure, armed with this knowledge, you'll be ready to take on the skies with confidence. Get going and safe travels!
